The Kalinga Sena on Monday questioned the right and power of the Justice MB Shah Commission, which is probing the mining scam in the State, for asking the mine owners to spend Rs 100 crore for development works for people in Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts.
“Who gave the power to Justice Shah to ask the errant mine owners to spend Rs 100 crore for development worksIJ He even told them (errant mine owners) that he would recommend to the Centre not to take any strong steps against them if they undertake development projects. While his duty is to investigate and report to the concerned authorities then why he is doing such things forcing us to suspect his dignity,” said Kalinga Sena supremo Hemant Rath at a Press conference here.
“Several leaders from the ruling BJD, the Congress and the BJP are involved in the mining scam. The Rs-100 crore development project is just a medium to save the mining mafias,” alleged Rath. “Hence, we demand a CBI probe into the whole issue,” he said.
