In recognition of the link of ancient civilisation between the people of Kalinga (Odisha) and Sri lanka, a group of Odia friends in Sri lanka have taken an initiative to establish an organisation, Kalinga-lanka Friendship Foundation.
The foundation will be launched in the New Delhi residence of Sri lankan High Commissioner Prasad Kariyawasam on May 29. Former Indian diplomat lalit Mansingh will be the president of the organisation.
The High Commission of Sri lanka will support the foundation’s work in a bid to further strengthen the relationship between the people of India, particularly Odisha, and Sri lanka. The organisation will serve as a platform to take initiatives in art and culture, education, skill development, tourism and business relations.
