The Health and Family Welfare Department once again conducted a raid on the BR Life Kalinga Hospital here on Monday under the PC and PNDT Act.
During the raid various irregularities were detected. The address of pregnant woman doing ultrasound was not found. Though it is mandatory for the doctors to put their initials on the ‘F’ Form, in many forms, the doctors’ signatures were not found.
It is suspected that sex determination tests were being conducted in the hospital.
Two ultrasound machines were sealed and cases were lodged against the hospital authorities for flouting the rules.
Earlier, the Khordha district administration had seized one Ultrasound machine.
Assistant Collector Purandar Nanda, Khordha DHH CDMO, Family Planning Department Joint Director Dr Vinod Bihari Rath and other senior officials conducted the raid.
Earlier on July 26, the Drug Control Administration had conducted a raid on the hospital and seized some medicines and sent it to laboratory for testing.
Worth mentioning, raids were conducted at the private hospital following allegations that it had been procuring inferior quality medicines.
The hospital had triggered a controversy by not releasing the body of a patient over non-payment of dues.
When Keonjhar MLA Mohan Majhi intervened in the matter, he was allegedly misbehaved by the hospital staffs.
Following this, the hospital was dropped from the list of Odisha State Treatment Fund (OSTF) from July 19 by the State Government.
