Kalahandi district’s Ranamal gram panchayat Executive Officer Bhabagrahi Meher was arrested by the Vigilance officials on Friday for demanding and accepting bribe of `2,000. Meher had demanded bribe from one Jhanjha Chatria of Matualguda village Jayapatna police limits in the district for passing a final bill.
The complainant alleged that he was issued a house construction work under the Biju Pakka Ghar scheme. After completion of the work, when Chatria requested the accused to pass the final bill for the construction work, Meher demanded bribe. later, as per the complaint, a trap was laid and the accused was caught red-handed by Vigilance officers.
