The Koshal Sena launched an indefinite hunger strike at Gandhi Chowk here on Tuesday demanding establishment of a cancer hospital in Bargarh. As the district has a large number of cancer patients, the area deserves such a hospital, they claimed.
Earlier in this connection, the United Forum for Cancer Hospital(UFFCH) had blocked the National Highway-6 and given a memorandum to the CM for establishment of a cancer hospital in the district. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also had promised to set up the hospital in the district as per the demand of the local people during a mega farmers' conclave at Ichhapali under Sohela Block of Bargarh district.
The Sena led by its president Sushanta Mishra and secretary Shobhan Kumar Karna alleged that no steps had been taken to fulfil the promise of the CM."We will continue the fast till the demands are fulfilled,” they added. Yadab Sena Odisha State president Dr Birendra Yadab and Western Odisha Yuba Manch president Ajit Pati among others supported the strike.
