Sadar police on Monday arrested 32-year-old Manoranjan Jena of Khandiabandh village under Sadar police limits for allegedly raping a 28-year-old woman on the pretext of marrying her. According to police sources, the accused, who is an employee of the Electricity Department, fell in love with the victim and kept physical relation with her after luring to her on the promise of marrying her but later he deserted the woman.
The victim lodged an FIR against the youth at the Sadar police station. Jena was booked in Sadar PS case No. 372/21 under various sections of IPC and produced in a local court. The court remanded him in jail custody, informed police sources.
