Instead of celebrating the Christmas with friends and family members, the district Collector of Kendrapada Samarth Verma, in a rare gesture, preferred to celebrate the fest with the hapless inmates of the Rural Institute For Educational and Social Welfare Affairs(RIESWA) swadhar gruha at Manakarpur.
Verma spent some time with the destitute, while celebrating the Christmas with them and distributed sweets and blankets besides Santa claus cap and mask among the children of the inmates by following Covid protocols like wearing masks andmaintaining social distancing.
The district Collector also interacted with some of the inmates about their problems. He inquired about the functioning of incense sticks manufacturing machine, paper carry bag unit, tailoring unit and paper plate unit provided earlier under CMRF for livelihood of the inmates.
The district Collector assured to provide an LED TV set and washing machine etc. He engaged a tutor for the studies of children of the inmates for a year.
