The Vigilance police on Wednesday arrested Kendrapada District Education Officer(DEO) Sanjib Kumar Singhjust before three days of his retirement.
He was accepting a bribe amount of Rs 20,000 from a fourth grade employee for cancellation of his transfer order and modification of the same to another place.
Santosh Kundu, peon at Pattamundai-based Nimapur School, had requested for modification of his transfer order.
Singh’s rented house in Kendrapada, residence in Cuttack, ancestral home in Baleswar and also DEO office were searched.
In this connection, a case was registered.
