At a time when men in khaki raining lathis or punishing lockdown violators have gone viral on the social media, but in a break from it, the police here were distributing dry foods and masks to the poor families in slums.
Beating the scorching heat, the senior police officials, led by the SP of Kendrapada Niti Sekhar, distributed the dry food and masks to the poverty stricken daily wagers living at the roadsides in Shyamgudia and Nasidipur slum areas.
Though the State Government has provided PDS rations to the beneficiaries for three months in advance under NFSA (National Food Security Act) and State Food Security Scheme along with providing four months advanced pension to the beneficiaries under National Social Assistance Programme(NSAP), but there were several poverty stricken daily wager families, who failed to avail the Government benefits.
