A taskforce committee was formed in joint collaboration of Unicef and Action Aid to check child marriage in the district. The performance of the taskforce was reviewed by district Collector Kandhamal Dr Brunda D.
The Collector was dissatisfied as the information collected by the taskforce in the panchayat and block level had not reached the DSWO. Sub Collector Kandhamal Devendra Kumar Nanda defined the meaning of single parent so that the Government can help the helpless child. The Collector directed the DEO to display art in walls of each school of the district giving a message of no to child marriage.
In the meeting, 298 villages were declared as child marriage free. The district level officials, supervisors, childline representatives and child protection officers were present. Besides DSWO Manaswini Mishra and Action Aid coordinator Swatitanaya Mishra attended.
