The residents of tribals-dominated K Baliapal panchayat under Hatadihi block in Keonjhar district have decided to boycott the coming panchayat elections.
Under the chairmanship of Mahila Sangha president Droupadi Manik, a meeting was held in this regard on Sunday.
After the 70 years of Independence, the area is still deprived, Manik said. K Baliapal people are yet to get proper education, health facility, transportation system, electricity, sanitation and drinking water, etc., she said
Especially, the Chhatera Ghati is still underdeveloped, she pointed out. Though the administration and political leaders have been promising to look into the area’s development needs, they usually forget their assurances after the elections, Manik added.
Nirmala Nayak, Satyabhama Nayak, Purnima Nayak, Snehalata Nayak, Parbati Dehuri and Kuntala Pradhan were present, among others, at the meeting.
