In a bid to express solidarity with the families of Central Reserve Police Force Jawans martyred in the Pulwama terror attack on February 14, the Jeypore Chamber of Commerce and Industry supported the Confederation of All India Traders’ all-India bandh call on Monday.
The commercial markets, besides schools and colleges, were closed and no business activity took place in the whole of Koraput. The traders were seen voluntarily closing down the shops in support of the bandh and paying tributes to the martyrs.
In the wake of China supporting Pakistan, the Chamber has decided to launch a district level campaign to boycott Chinese goods. The traders also decided to collect funds for financial assistance to the bereaved soldiers' families. Candle light and bike rallies were carried out by school and college students.
