Some local youths played role of a Good Samaritan by lending financial help to a poverty stricken tribal woman, who was begging to perform last rites of her husband who died on Monday night.

Hapless Minati Munda of Chapada village under Pattamundai police limits was begging to perform the last rites of her deceased husband in front of the Pattamundai CHC where her husband Jagarai died, when she was noticed by the members of DJ Seva Samiti of Pattamundai. The members led by Pratap Padhi rushed to the hospital and collected money from their members for lending a support to the poor widow.

“We collected Rs 2,100 and provided the money to Minati while she was helplessly begging. Later, we arranged

firewood for the funeral besides a hearse carrying vehicle for ferrying the body to Chahapada village cremation ground,” said Padhi.
