A physically-disabled person, Ekadashi Swain, a resident of Khasadi village under the Sadar police station here, was beaten to death by his neighbour on Sunday over past land dispute. While the accused surrendered before the police following an FIR lodged by the deceased’s father Nanda Kishore Swain with the Sadar police, the police registered a case, started inquiry and arrested the accused, Nidhiram Swain.
Police said that while Ekadashi was walking on village road, Nidhiram, his wife Ballavi and their son Santosh assaulted him with lathis and other weapons. When the critically-injured Ekadashi was shifted to the hospital, he was declared brought dead.
