An integrated healthcare drone network was inaugurated by Kandhamal MP Dr Achyuta Samanta in presence of Zilla Parisad president Nandini Kanhar, Collector Kandhmal Asish Iswar Patil, ADM Basanta Sahu, CDMO, Manoj Kumar Upadhaya, among others.

Kandhamal is the first district in Odisha and the first aspirational district in the country to have an integrated healthcare drone network. Kandhamal is a hilly area, people are living in far remote areas; so, it is difficult to provide medical facilities in the areas. Kandhamal has many inaccessible areas like Kotagarh and Tumudibandh. The service would come as a great help, he added.

Collector Kandhamal said the drone based medical delivery will be a game changer in strengthening healthcare in the remote areas. Patients will now have access to the best of diagnostics and on-demand medical care.

Redwing, a leading start up, would provide made- in- India electric hybrid vertical take-off and landing drones and run end -to- end operations for the pilot project which was made possible by the generous financial and technical support from United States Agency for International Development 's healthcare blended financing facility besides support from SAMRIDH healthcare and B- medical system.
