Police on Sunday arrested one Sashibhusan Patnaik (55), a person of Keonjhar town, on the charges of blackmailing and extorting money from people with threats to file RTI applications against them.
Heads of some private organisations had recently lodged complaints with the Keonjhar Town police alleging that Patnaik extorted money from them after threatening them of obtaining information about the organisations through RTI (Right to Information) applications.
Now, Patnaik is under interrogation at the police station for ascertaining the amounts of money collected by him from various persons and organisations.
