Rukmani Mahanta (56), an Anganwadi Worker of Joda block in Keonjhar district, died on duty on Monday.
Sources said Mahanta was making a door-to-door survey for distribution of mosquito nets at Bileipada village when she suddenly became unconscious. Former BJP Joda block president Aganu Charan Mahanta rushed her to the Champua Sub-Ddivisional Hospital soon. However, she was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital at Keonjhar where she succumbed.
A resident of Jamdalak near Champua, Mahanta was very hardworking and is survived by husband and two sons. She was suffering from hypertension and diabetes, sources said.
