A five-year-old tribal girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on Monday by her 15-year-old uncle at laxminagarpur village under the Jajpur Road police station in the district.
“Acting on the FIR, we arrested the juvenile under section-376 and section- 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012,” said Jajpur Road PS IIC Sishir Mishra. The statement of the victim was recorded, he said.
She was also medically examined, he added. The accused was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) at Jajpur. The JJB rejected his bail petition and remanded him in the observation homes in Angul, added Mishra.
