Requesting Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to take measures in addressing the plight of duped chit fund investors as per his earlier assurance, the Arthika Sanstha Manankadwara Kshatigrastanka Milita Mancha (ASKMM) on Monday wrote to him seeking his intervention at the earliest.
Mancha convenor Jayanta Das said around 10,000 duped depositors had staged a demonstration in front of Parliament on December 17 last year and later a five member delegation submitted an 11-point charter of demands to the Union Finance Minister.
“We were glad that the Minister was much aware about the plight of the duped depositors and considered three aspects, flawed laws and rules to be amended in favour of security of the deposit/investment and provisions of stringent punishment on the fraudulent financial institutions and their owners, identification of the duped depositors and provisions/arrangements of refund of the hard earned money to the depositors,” the letter stated.
The letter urged the Minister to take immediate measures in this regard.
