Teaching in Tiakati UGME School of Jagannathpur panchayat under Bisoi block in Mayurbhanj has virtually turned a farce, as there are only two teachers for as many as eight classes. The inability of the teachers to handle so many classes simultaneously has led to the decline in the number of students in the school. The local people are now worried, with the situation going from bad to worse day by day.
The school was established way back in 1951. It then began only as a primary school. Still, it had a good name and fame in those early years, after its birth; as the number of teachers was more and the number of classes was less, and, as a result, the quality of teaching was better and the students performed remarkably well.
But, in recent years, the condition of the school is going down, due to the indifference of the concerned authorities, the people of the area alleged. The present strength of the school (in all the 8 classes) is only 47.
In these circumstances, School Managing Committee president Devilal Soren and several other villagers have urged the authorities to take urgent and adequate measures to arrest the deterioration of the school.
They have demanded immediate appointment of a headmaster and at least, two other qualified teachers here.
