In yet another instance of man-animal conflict, a woman was trampled to death by an elephant at Nagaon in Nuagada Panchayat under the Athamalik Forest Division on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Subhasini Nayak.
When Nayak had gone outside her house to attend nature’s call early in the morning, she came face to face with the elephant, which attacked her. She died on the spot.
Angry over the incident, locals staged a road blockade in the area demanding compensation to family members of the deceased.
Vehicular movement was disrupted in the area due to the protest.
