A 50-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant at Daanla village under Bansapala block in Keonjhar district on Tuesday.
He was identified as Tupuli Munda.
According to reports, the elephant strayed into the village and entered Munda’s house in the wee hours.
When it started devouring crops kept in the house, Munda tried to drive it away.
The enraged elephant attacked Munda and trampled him to death on the spot.
Irate locals alleged that though they have been informing Forest Department officials about the frequent incidences of elephant menace in the area, the official have not taken any remedial steps in this regard.
