A 17-year-old boy died after being thrown away by a tusker in his village Bhalugard in Sundargarh district on Friday.
According to information, Kartika Munda along with two others had slept outside his house on Thursday night while a tusker and a female elephant came to them. The tusker threw Kartika away by his trunk. However, two others, who had slept near him, ran away and could escape themselves.Kartika died while undergoing treatment in the Sundargarh hospital. The Sundargarh Forest division has given Rs 10,000 to Kartika’s family for his final rites.
The two elephants also damaged some houses in the area.Sundargarh DFO Arjun Behera said a Forest squad is presently watching the movement of the two elephants at Bamundiadih.
