The residents of Khaira close to the foothills have a tough time as a herd of jumbos belonging to the Kuldhia Sanctuary were wreaking havoc after straying into Adibasi Sahi in Kaithagadia panchayat. The herd, besides damaging the standing crops, too was pulling down dwelling houses.
As per reports, the elephant herd entered into the village on Wednesday night and destroyed a house, belonging to one Mangal Singh in the latest case.
The local forest officials launched an operation to drive away the pachyderms with the help of volunteers but with little success.
The locals residing in the nearby area were spending sleepless nights fearing attack by the jumbos.
