Demanding a judicial inquiry into the Bhaliaguda fake encounter by a sitting judge of the Odisha High Court, members of the Campaign Against Fabricated Cases (CAFC) staged a dharna in front of the Kandhamal Collector’s office here on Thursday.
A delegation including widows of five persons, who were killed in the police encounter, led by CAFC convenor Narendra Mohanty met the District Magistrate and submitted a memorandum to the Governor regarding the issue. In their memorandum, they demanded that the State Government lodge an FIR under Section 302 of IPC against the ‘murderer’ police officials. The members also demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh for each deceased’s family.
Mohanty alleged that the police had killed the five innocent people without any appropriate reason. “We will continue our struggle till the poor tribals get justice,” said he.
