Judicial panel to verify OOA's land claim

Published on:

As per the direction of the Supreme Court, Acting Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court Justice Pradeep K Mohanty has appointed a three-member judicial committee to examine and ascertain as to whether the litigious commercial complexes built by the Odisha Olympic Association (OOA) near the Barabati Stadium here are within the leasehold area as claimed by the sporting body.

The committee is headed by Cuttack District Judge SN Mishra and has two Additional District Judges as its members. The committee has been asked to physically examine and find out whether the commercial complex comprising 23 shops and a sprawling marriage Mandap (Barabati Palace) lie within or outside the lease area after comparing it with the original lease deed. The Chief Secretary and the Revenue Secretary have also been directed by the apex court to coordinate with the judicial committee so that the panel submits its report before next date of hearing of the issue scheduled on August 17, sources said.
