The city police have not been able to cover much ground to crack the sensational robbery in the house of retired High Court Judge PK Mohanty even as more than 36 hours has passed since the incident.
Mohanty’s domestic help Santosh Satpathy, detained since Saturday, has denied his involvement and feigned ignorance about the incident. “He has been subjected to polygraph (lie detection) test, the results of which are awaited,” said city DCP Sanjiv Arora.
At least seven to eight armed dacoits looted unsubstantial amounts of cash and jewellery from Mohanty’s house at Markat Nagar here after tying him, his wife and their daughter-in-law in a room. The looters decamped with the booty in Mohanty’s car, which was later traced lying abandoned near Rasulgarh on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
