As Jual Oram, the lone BJP MP from Odisha from Sundargarh, got a Cabinet berth in the downsized Narendra Modi Government at the Centre, the BJP cadres all over Sundargarh went upbeat.
They claimed that the induction of Oram in the Modi brigade would lift the spirit of the party workers who are now a demoralised lot following the party’s poor show in the State in the recent elections.
They also hoped with the workers charged up, it would add to the strength of the BJP in Sundargarh in particular and the State in general. The party would be able to effectively take on the 14- year- old BJD Government henceforth. Oram is a big critic of Chief Minister Naveen Patanik. The members of the Khandadhar Bachao Committee, opposing allotment of Khandadhar hills for mining to South Korean steel major Posco, are also hopeful of giving a tough fight with Oram’s support.
