The workers and staff of the industries in Jharsuguda are being tortured in many ways. While some are harassed mentally, others are tortured financially by the factory management in complete violation of the Government rules.
As against normal 8 hours, the workers are compelled to work hard for 12 hours. The authorities are paying deaf ear to the complaints lodged by the workers many times.
A case of such harassment has come to light after the strike by the workers of a Jharsuguda based Action Ispat Company. lakhs of rupees of the workers are not deposited with the EPF office by the management. As per complaints filed by the staff association before the district Collector, it is said that EPF money of the employees has not been deposited for the last 13 months causing huge loss to the factory workers. On inquiry, it was found that the management was misleading the workers saying that the amount had been deposited with EPF office.
On verification with EPF office at Rourkela, it was found that no such amount had been deposited till date towards EPF dues.
Meanwhile, the district Collector has assured that action will be taken against erring officials as per rules.
