J'suguda slow rail flyover works hit normal life

Published on:

The rail over bridge being constructed at a snail’s pace is causing hardships to the general public. As many as 19 mouzas, including the villagers of Bandhbahal and Banharpali under lakhanpur block, are largely affected.

Sources said the rail over bridge is being constructed at Belpahar railway crossing over Mumbai-Howrah rail line at a cost of more than Rs 50 crore. But the construction work is far from satisfactory.

Besides, the rail track remains busy most of the time and the common people have to wait for hours to cross the railway crossing gate.

The railway crossing remains closed for about 9 hours daily. Hundreds of vehicles are stranded on both sides of the crossing, which causes abnormal delays.

Even, the passengers fail to catch their train.

Besides, the passengers for OPGC, TRl Krosaki, lakhanpur coal mines and Ind Barath Energy are facing innumerable problems. Sometimes, due to small or big accidents, many lives and properties are at stake.

The officials of the construction work told that due to rainy season, the construction work has been delayed and after Biswakarma Puja, the work will be expedited.

That apart, delay is caused due to handing over of land and settlement of the grievances of the villagers.
