Jharsuguda Congress MlA Naba Kishore Das has expressed serious concern over the mismanagement in the current paddy procurement in the district.
In a letter to the State Food and Civil Supplies Commissioner, Das urged the State Government to take immediate steps to check the irregularities.
“While the system is very transparent and fair in neighbouring Sambalpur district, the deduction of 3 kg from each quintal paddy by the millers in Jharsuguda district is totally unfair, for which the innocent farmers are incurring heavy financial loss,” said the MlA.
Alternatively, millers of Sambalpur like Samaleswari, Venkat, Annapurna and Mittal may be allowed to operate in Jharsuguda district, Das added. “The stacking of more than a hundred of paddy bags in the open after purchased by the millers is really unfortunate and should be done away with immediately by the district administration”, Das added.
