At a Press meet at the BJD office here on Monday, Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) Chairman and BJD Jharsuguda district president Kishore Mohanty brought allegations against Jharsuguda MlA Naba Kishore Das.
Mohanty alleged that Das has failed to fulfil his election promises. The MlA is cheating public by laying foundation-stones in the absence of the Government officers. On October 29, Das laid foundation for a heart care hospital at Jharsuguda on behalf of the MCl where protocol was not followed despite the presence of the Bargarh MP and the Brajrajnagar MlA. For this, Bargarh MP left the ceremony midway.
Das also wrongly declared that construction work of the hospital is looked after by a private agency when in fact it is being carried out in PPP mode under joint venture of State Government and the MCl, Mohanty said. Besides, when a tender process has been initiated for road construction under the Chief Minister Sadak scheme, Das erred by laying foundation for the same with his handful of supporters, the BJD leader said.
Das had also promised to take care of employment, drinking water supply problems, etc., during election. But in the changed circumstances today, industrial houses are dismissing their workers, Mohanty said.
He also alleged that although the BJD demanded a Vigilance inquiry into the irregularities on construction work carried out with the MCl peripheral fund, no steps are taken by the administration. If nothing is done, the BJD would stage protest before Collector’s office in the coming days, he warned.
Municipality Chairman Harish Ganatra and other BJD leaders TR Choudhury and Manoranjan Mohapatra were present at the Press meet.
Reacting to the allegations MlA Das said that as a representative of the people, he has been provided the Constitutional right to lay foundation-stone of any Government scheme.
Das said that during Mohanty's tenure of about 18 years as local MlA, the latter couldn't even provide a building for the 41-year-old laxmi Narayan College or arrange proper drinking water facility for Jharsuguda residents.
Now that Mohanty is just frustrated at the sight of a lot of activities taking place in the district, he is feeling insecure about his political fortune, Das added.
