To overcome energy crisis in the State, Wesco has imposed three-hour power cut in Jharsuguda town. However, in some areas of the town, the power cuts are far exceeding three hours and in some cases load shedding goes for 7-8 hours every day.
When contacted, the electrical authorities replied that continuous electric supply in the city was not possible due to the broadening of National Highway and shifting of electric poles. Further, as per a recent Government circular, power cuts for three hours daily will continue till July, 2016. If the NH extension work is not completed within July 16, the department will be compelled to observe power cuts for 9 hours daily in urban areas, he informed.
Vikash Deo, who runs a small grocery unit, said the big industries can run the gen-sets, but small business houses can’t afford it and have to heavily rely on Wesco supply.
So they incur loss when there is power cut. Deo demanded that Wesco should provide inverters to its valued customers during such period of load-shedding.
