Most wanted criminal Karan Singh of Bhuliatikra in Jharsuguda was arrested by the Jharsuguda police from his residence late on Thursday night.
Besides, the cops also detained four to five associates of Karan. It is alleged that some miscreants have been extorting money from contractors engaged in construction of runway and compound wall of the Jharsuguda Airport. Unfortunately, no full-proof evidence is available with the local police. Although police is silent on the matter, arrest of Karan and his aides with the help of two platoon forces raises many questions about the ground of arrest.
A police team headed by district SP Umasankar Das cordoned the residence of Karan from all sides and later arrested him. More than 50 criminal cases are under investigation by various police stations.
