After a successful operation, doctors removed a six-kg tumour from the stomach of a woman here on Saturday.
One Ankita Jaiswal of Chowkipara consulted Dr BD Dash at the Samaleswari Hospital complaining of stomach ache and swelling of belly. Thereafter, ultrasound and blood test of the patient were conducted, which suggested growing of a tumor on her left ovary. After operation for one and a half hours, Dr Dash and his associate Dr Anup Kumar Deo brought out the tumour from her stomach.
Ankita had also given birth to a male child at the same hospital three months back. But during that time no such pain had persisted. Tumour samples have been sent for biopsy, on receipt of which the next treatment would start, said the attending physicians.
Ankita was in the ICU for a day, after which she was shifted to a general ward. Her condition is stated to be stable now.
