Ahead of the Durge Puja, the Jharsuguda District Durga Puja Committee has started its preparation in full swing to ensure a smooth and hassle-free celebration of the festival across 82 communities in the district.
A preparatory meeting was held under the chairmanship of district Collector Parameswaran B here on Saturday. District Sub-Collector Barendranath Dhal, SP Umasankar Das, Additional SP BB Patel and officers of various departments and representatives of Puja committees of the district attended the meeting.
The meeting had discussion on agendas like construction of Puja Mandaps as per rules, supply of electricity, speaker control mechanism, traffic management and parking arrangements.
It was decided in the meeting that different Puja committees will obtain necessary safety clearance from the Electricity Department. They were also advised not to use high decibel fire crackers during the Ravan Dahan programme and ensure safety of visitors.
Expressing discontentment over the regular power cuts, Puja Committees’ members requested for temporary relaxation for at least for four to five days during the Puja. It was also decided that the Puja committees will take necessary permission for idol immersion before 72 hours of it.
