Student of the laxmi Narayan College here on Wednesday resorted to an indefinite strike demanding transfer of land from the Jharsuguda Government Polytechnic College to the lN College.
The agitating students said the lN College has been functioning from a hostel building of the polytechnic college since 1969. The unpaid rent amount of Rs 84 lakh to be made to the polytechnic college has put the lN College into trouble.
“Moreover, the Industry Department has given notice to the lN College authority to vacate the college building. This has pushed 1,600 students of the college into darkness,” said Student Union president lal Mohan Singh. When asked, lN College Principal VV Singh said he has written a letter to the Chief Minister to consider the demand of transferring the land and building from the polytechnic college. Singh said he would not sit on the Principal's chair till the land issue is resolved.
