A 27-year-old youth of Rahana village under Balikuda police station committed suicide by consuming poison on Thursday after he failed to succeed in love affairs with a girl of his village.
According to information, the youth was working in Chennai and had returned to the village recently. He took the extreme step in life as the girl’s family members disapproved their affairs, alleged villagers.
He succumbed while undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital here. Soon after the news of his death reached the village, hundreds of villagers converged in front of the girl’s house and blamed her and her family members for the youth’s death.
However, they only relented after police assured them all possible legal steps.
The police recovered a suicide note which was addressed to the girl’s kin. Investigation is on, police said.
