The Jagatsinghpur District Judge Court, while delivering the verdict of a murder case on Thursday, found a youth guilty and sentenced him to life term and asked him to pay fine of Rs 5,000.
Reports said that on June 27, 2014 night, one Surendra Behera, a local sweet vendor, had been brutally assaulted by one Ajaya Khatua [20] in Gopalpur village under Raghunathpur block following old enmity.
Injured Behera had admitted in the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment where he had succumbed to his injuries. Raghunathpur police after registering a murder case had arrested accused youth Ajaya Khatua and filed chargesheet against him in the District Judge Court, Jagatsinghpur.
Taking about 29 witnesses and cogent evidences produced by prosecution, District Judge Ananda Chandra Behera convicted the accused.
