Hundreds of villagers from Chikinia village under Raghunathpur block accompanied by civil society members and anti-liquor activists of Jagatsinghpur district staged a road blockade at Tarapur on the Cuttack-Paradip road. They opposed opening of a liquor shop in the area.

village adjacent to Tarapur leading to the public resentment The local residents apprised the civil administration, police and district Excise Department seeking its immediate closure but the authorities lent a deaf ear.
Senior police officials from Raghunathpur and Tirtol police stations rushed to the spot and held discussion with the agitators. They assured relocation of the liquor shop after consultation with district.
