Jagatsinghpur Collector Sangram Keshari Mohapatra saved lives of a Covid mother and newborn.
This is the story about birth of Sangram, whose name was given by the parents after Collector Mohapatra.
Sanjay Prasad Rath (36), a native of Jagatsinghpur district, a company executive, lives at Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar. His wife Manisha had gone to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for regular check-up where doctors found that there might be a case of early CS delivery. Looking at the urgency, Manisha and her husband were told for Covid test where she was found positive without any travel history or contact with affected person.
From then, the nightmare started. The testing report came 24 hours later and the couple passed sleepless nights though husband’s test came negative. Next day, they were told to take Manisha in a separate vehicle without the husband for Covid treatment and the husband resisted vehemently.
A relative of Sanjay contacted Jagatsinghpur Collector who swung into action immediately along with a team of administrators. In the meantime, as per BMC order, the couple had proceeded to the SUM Hospital.
The Jagtsinghpur district Collector had coordinated with the Khurda Collector to make arrangements in SUM Hospital. Later, the patient was referred to the KIMS Hospital with which the district Collector, Jagatsinghpur, was in constant touch. After they reached KIMS, the doctors immediately attended the expectant mother Manisha.
Finally, Covid report of Manisha came negative and later they proceeded to Shree Hospital, where they enrolled for regular pregnancy check up since beginning. Finally after 10 days of uncertainty and misery, Manisha gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Similarly, in another instance, Sanjay Kumar Mishra, a Ravenshaw Collegiate schoolmate of Collector Mohapatra was also inspired to keep his son’s name as Sangram.
