The district Congress students’ unit on Saturday staged a demonstration here in protest against implementation of the CAA and the NRC in country.
The protestors later burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded immediate withdrawal of the CAA and the NRC. District Students’ Congress president Kumar Pritam Parija led the agitation of hundreds of party workers and sympathisers, who converged at Municipality Chhak voicing the BJP-led Union Government’s anti-secular stance. The protestors slammed the Central Government’s move and warned that the Congress would not tolerate the divisive steps being taken the Modi-Shah duo.
Among others, former Municipality Chairman Biplab Choudhury, Prasanta Mallick, Krushna Chandra Pradhan, Abhisek Bal, Saroj Lemka, Sandip Mohanty, Sanjib Das and Smruti Ranjan Jena led the stir.
