A division bench comprising Justice Binod Prasad and Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo of the Orissa High Court reserved its verdict on the much touted Jagatsinghpur magistrate – police dispute case on Wednesday.

The case pertains to one lady sub inspector S Majhi who had lodged an FIR at Jagatsinghpur police station alleging that Jagatsinghpur Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Satya Priya Mishra had misbehaved with her during presentation of a juvenile. She had accused that Mishra had delivered castiest remarks against her. Basing on the complaint, Jagatsinghpur SP Sudha Singh had instructed for registering a case against the CJM.

The dispute had surfaced as before registering a case against the CJM, the police had not obtained permission from the District Judge. The district lawyers’ association had observed 23-day cease work protesting the incident. The then District Judge Gopal Chandra Behera had appraised the Orissa High Court after which a case was registered against Jagatsinghpur police.
