As part of the ruling BJD’s ongoing Mahasangram for Mahanadi, its Jagatsinghpur district unit on Wednesday hit the streets against the Chhattisgarh Government staging a demonstration in front of the Collectorate here.
Party supporters led by district president and MP Bishnu Das, Minister Atnu Sabyasachi Nayak, MlAs Prashant Muduli and Rajashree Mallick, Block Chairmen and many other senior leaders of the party along with hundreds of party workers participated in the demonstration.
Addressing the protest meeting, BJD leaders severely criticised the Chhattisgarh Government, the CWC and the Union Government alleging that backdoor clearance had been given to the projects constructed upstream the Mahanadi without the CWC or the Chhattisgarh Government without having informed the Odisha Government.
Criticising BJP leaders’ allegations that the Odisha Government had full knowledge about barrage construction but is now politicising the Mahanadi, Bishnu Das said the State BJP leaders are influenced by the Union Government and trying to take political mileage out of the ossue while supporting the Chhattisgarh BJP Government.
