The district administration here geared up to recover lord Jagannath’s land under possession of many illegal occupants and decided to sell the retrieved land to public here.
Reports said that about 870 acres of lord Jagannath land have been under the illegal possession of many people in the district. This was informed by a notice of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner [RDC] Aravinda Padhee during his visit to Jagatsinghpur on Monday.
The RDC had told that while selling the retrieved land, the occupants would be given priority to purchase and in the event they fail to do it, the land would be disposed of to others.
Those who have been possessing the lord’s land for last 30 years would pay 10 per cent of the market value of land to own it up, while land occupied for 20- 30 years would be valued at 15 per cent of the market cost and land occupied for last 12 – 20 years would cost 25 per cent of the market cost. The illegal land occupants were also asked to furnish their relevant records and documents for verification.
A committee was formed under chairmanship of the District Collector to examine the record and rights and take appropriate action with regard to sale of the land.
