The Jagatsinghpur district administration on Saturday felicitated health worker Premalata Barik for receiving the National Florence Nightingale Award 2020 for her selfless dedication and compassion, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic as a health worker. Collector SK Mohapatra, CDMO Dr Bijaya Panda, ADMO Dr Basanta Barik, DPM Chakradhar Jena, ADPM Sukanta Pradhan, Barik’s husband Dhruba Charan Mohapatra, her daughter Nilima Priyadarshini and her grandson Lagnajit Rout were present on the occasion. President Ram Nath Kovind conferred award to 51 health workers and nurses in the country including Barik at a virtual ceremony on September 15. The function was attended among others by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of State Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar. Barik was only awardee from Odisha who received prestigious award for the year 2020.
