J'pore-N'rangpur railway project sanctioned

As per announced in the 2016-17 Budget, the Ministry of Railways sanctioned a 38-km new BG line between Jeypore and Nabarangpur.

The Rs 747.91-crore project would be completed in three years.

The project cost would be shared by the Railways and the State Government at 50:50.

The project is important as it would connect Nabarangpur district with Jeypore in south Odisha.

The line, once completed, would connect Nabarangpur to important towns like Koraput, Jeypore, Jagdalpur, Dantewada. Further, the line is useful as it would connect Nabarangpur with Junagarh and thus lessen distances to many places of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.

Besides the 50 per cent of the project cost, the State Government would provide land free of cost.
