Truck and tipper owners at Joda are on strike since February 1 demanding rise in freight rate as per a decision taken at a meeting held at the MATOA office on January 3.
Iron ore transportation from mines by road has been stopped due to the strike. As a result, the Government revenue has come down.
To bring the situation back to normal, the Government has prohibited the strike in exercise of the Odisha Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1988. The prohibition order would be in force for six months with effect from January 28.
MATOA president Ranjit Mahakud and JATOA president Bhakta Mahanta said the matter is pending in the High Court. The High Court has directed the Government to finalise the matter after discussions with the association, they added.
