Joda-Barbil being a mining area, here everything is decided by the whims of mines owners who think themselves as though above law and nobody can take any action them. However, a recent arrest of mine owner Tarini Prasad Mohanty and his son Arpit has brought a change in the situation.
According to sources, on Thursday night, police personnel posted near Kumarjoda on the outskirts of Joda town found that some trucks standing near the Reliance Patrol Pump owned by Mohanty were creating traffic problem. Soon, they told them to park in some other places for easy flow of vehicles on the road.
But petrol pump owner Mohanty and his son Arpit thought that the security personnel were doing so to favour another patrol pump situated on the other side of road, just at some 300 meter distance and asked the security personnel to refrain from the move. But when the police did not heed, Tarini along with Arpit and their staff abused them and attack the security personnel. IIC Sumeet Soren acted tough and arrested the father -son duo who was warning him of dire consequence. They were court forwarded and the court denied their bail petition, said sources.
Earlier, there were many allegations against Mohanty including violation of mining rules. The public here is hopeful that the action against Mohanty and his son would surely have an impact on the other mine owners who call the shots here.
