Dharana held on Thursday by nine out of 14 councillors of Joda Municipality was called off after an assurance was given by the Sub Collector that positive steps were being taken to address their concerns.
The councillors alleging nepotism and no action against the civic body chairperson Manjulata Jena had held the dharana. Notably, Joda Municipality Vice Chairman Surendra Kumar Jena and 12 councillors had complained against chairperson Patra for indiscipline. Yet, the municipality administrator was silent on the complaint. The councillors chanted slogans against the Executive Officer for not taking prompt action.
When contacted, Jena said whatever trivial allegations were brought against her were her personal problems and the councillors need not bother about them. On the other hand, she advised them to concentrate on development of Joda.
